Terms of Use
Effective 4 November 2026. These terms are written in plain language as the Consumer Protection Act requires. Clauses that limit our liability or place risk on you are shown in bold so you can find them easily.
1. Who we are
Crypto Guru (www.cryptoguru.co.za) is an independent South African business ("Crypto Guru", "we", "us"). It is not affiliated with any exchange, broker or other financial business. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. Agreeing to these terms
By using the website you agree to these terms. If you subscribe to Whale Watch Pro, you also confirm that you have read these terms and our Subscription, Cancellation and Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.
You must be 18 or older to create an account or subscribe.
3. Not financial advice
Crypto Guru publishes news and market data for general information only. Nothing on the website, including news summaries, prices, the "Whale consensus" gauge and any "buying" or "selling" labels in Whale Watch, is financial, investment, tax or legal advice, or a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any crypto asset.
Crypto Guru is not an authorised financial services provider and does not provide advice or intermediary services as defined in the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act, 2002. Crypto assets are high-risk and their prices can fall sharply; you could lose all the money you put in. Make your own decisions, and speak to an authorised financial services provider if you need advice.
Whale Watch describes what large orders and trades on public exchange feeds look like at a moment in time. Large orders can be placed and cancelled within seconds, sometimes to mislead other traders, so what the tool shows may not reflect anyone's real intentions.
4. Your account
- You sign in with a one-time link sent to your email address. Keep access to your email account secure, because anyone who can read your email can sign in as you.
- Your account is for you alone. Don't share your sign-in links or let others use your subscription.
- Tell us straight away at [email protected] if you think someone else has used your account.
5. Whale Watch Pro
Whale Watch Pro gives subscribers access to the Whale Watch tool at /whale-watch/. It currently includes a live liquidity heatmap, whale walls (large resting orders), recently pulled and filled walls, large trades, a whale consensus gauge, and a choice of markets (BTC, ETH, SOL and XRP) and size thresholds. The features are described on the Pro page.
Access starts as soon as PayFast confirms your first payment, usually within a minute. If the tool can't reach the live exchange feed from your network, it switches to a clearly labelled simulated mode; simulated data is never presented as live.
6. Prices and payment
- The price of each plan is shown on the Pro page before you subscribe and on PayFast's payment page before you pay. Prices are in South African rand, and the price shown is the full price you pay. There are no other fees from us.
- Payments are processed by PayFast, a South African payment gateway. Because subscriptions renew automatically, they are paid by debit or credit card on PayFast's secure payment page. We never see or store your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically. A monthly plan is charged on the same date each month until you cancel. An annual plan is charged once for 12 months; see section 7 and our Refund Policy for what happens at the end of the year.
- If a renewal payment fails, your access continues for a short grace period (currently 3 days) and then stops until payment succeeds or you subscribe again.
- We may change prices for future billing periods. We will email you at least 20 business days before a price change affects you, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
7. Cancelling
You can cancel at any time from your Account page or by emailing [email protected]. Cancelling stops future charges, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Your cooling-off and refund rights, and the rules for annual plans under section 14 of the Consumer Protection Act, are set out in our Subscription, Cancellation and Refund Policy.
8. Fair use
You may not:
- copy, scrape, resell, republish or redistribute Whale Watch output or our news summaries in bulk, or build a competing service from them;
- try to get around the paywall, sign-in, or any security measure, or access accounts that are not yours;
- overload, disrupt or reverse-engineer the website, or use automated tools to access it beyond normal browsing;
- use the website for anything unlawful, including market manipulation or misleading other people about crypto assets.
You may share links to our articles and quote short extracts with a link back to us.
9. Content and ownership
Our news summaries, headlines, site design, logo and the Whale Watch software belong to us or our licensors. The original reporting we summarise belongs to the publishers we link to. Market data comes from the third-party sources named on the website.
10. Third-party data and links
Prices, order books and trades come from third parties (for example Binance's public market data feeds and CoinGecko). We show them as we receive them and cannot guarantee that they are complete, accurate or up to date. News summaries are written from public reporting by other publishers. We check our work, but errors can happen; tell us at [email protected] and we will correct them. Links to other websites are for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or how they handle your information.
11. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the website and Whale Watch available at all times, but they may be interrupted by maintenance, outages at our hosting or data providers, or events outside our control. We may improve, change or remove features. If we remove a core Whale Watch feature, or Whale Watch is unavailable for an extended period, you may cancel and ask for a refund for the affected period under our Refund Policy.
12. Our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss you suffer from trading or investment decisions you make, whether or not you used information from Crypto Guru, or for losses caused by inaccurate, delayed or unavailable third-party data.
To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim about Whale Watch Pro is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act or any other law that cannot be limited or excluded.
13. Suspending or closing accounts
You can stop using Crypto Guru and ask us to delete your account at any time (see our Privacy Policy). We may suspend or close an account that breaches section 8. Unless the breach is serious (for example fraud or a security attack), we will first email you and give you 20 business days to put it right. If we close a paid account for a reason other than your breach, we will refund the unused part of your subscription.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or the law changes. The effective date at the top always shows the current version. If a change materially affects subscribers, we will email you at least 20 business days before it applies, and you can cancel before then.
15. Complaints and disputes
- Please contact us first at [email protected]. We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and aim to resolve it within 15 business days.
- If we don't resolve it, you may refer it, free of charge, to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) at cgso.org.za, or to the National Consumer Commission.
- Complaints about how we handle personal information can be made to the Information Regulator; see our Privacy Policy.
These steps don't take away your right to go to court.
16. Electronic records
These terms are always available on this page, and you can print or save them using your browser. Your subscription status is shown on your Account page, PayFast emails you a receipt for every payment, and we keep a record of every payment notification. Notices we send you by email are treated as received when they reach your inbox, in line with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act.
17. General
- These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa.
- If any part of these terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force.
- If we don't enforce a right immediately, we haven't given it up.
