Fed and OCC quiz US banks on cyber defences after $6.3bn Binance hack

The Federal Reserve and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency began contacting US banks on 2 November to ask about suspicious transactions, service disruptions and cyber weaknesses following the 29 October Binance breach, Reuters reported. The FBI has linked the theft to the North Korea-connected group Tradertraitor. Both regulators declined to comment. The checks come as French lender Crédit Mutuel Arkéa deals with a separate cyberattack in which over $133 million in suspected stolen funds was traced through crypto platforms.
