Polygon weighs hard fork to return $6.8m in POL stolen from Binance, Polymarket
A proposal backed by Binance and Polymarket would use a Polygon hard fork to move about 70.49 million POL, worth roughly $6.8 million, from five attacker-controlled addresses to verified recovery wallets without changing total supply. About 46.6 million POL is tied to Binance's late-October breach and 23.9 million to a Polymarket incident involving a compromised third-party provider. Block producers are already refusing transactions from the addresses. The plan still needs governance approval and testnet trials, with no mainnet date set.
