Labor Department sends rule opening 401(k) plans to crypto for White House review
The US Department of Labor filed a proposed rule with the White House's regulatory review office on 5 November to carry out President Trump's order letting 401(k) plans offer alternative assets, including crypto. The filing tells plan fiduciaries to weigh higher costs against long-term returns and diversification, and says the cost analysis is still under way. Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have previously urged the department to abandon the effort.
